The Commissioner of Police overseeing the Anambra State Governorship Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, PhD, fsi, on Wednesday, 5th November 2025, hosted heads of all security agencies in the State in a strategic meeting aimed at reinforcing and synchronizing existing security frameworks ahead of the November 8, 2025 Governorship Election.
The meeting, which held at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, had in attendance Service Commanders from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the NDLEA.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the collective resolve of security agencies to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election. He stressed the importance of synergy, real-time intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and professional conduct of personnel before, during, and after the polls.
The Service Commanders, in their separate contributions, pledged full inter-agency cooperation and expressed readiness to protect voters, election officials, election materials, and critical national assets across the State.
CP Shogunle further assured residents and political stakeholders that security agencies have jointly reviewed potential flashpoints, drawn up deployment strategies, and established rapid-response mechanisms to swiftly counter any threat to peace.
Security agencies jointly appealed to the electorate to remain law-abiding, avoid violence, and participate freely without fear of intimidation. Political parties and candidates were also cautioned to adhere to the rules of engagement and guide their supporters against acts capable of breaching public order.
The Anambra State Security Architecture remains resolute, united, and unwavering in its commitment to ensuring the will of the people is expressed safely and transparently through the ballot.
