Late Omu Anioma, Obi Martha Dunkwu, Posthumously Honoured with Crown of Change and SDGs Champion Award by Delta State Government

The late renowned culture connoisseur and Omu Anioma, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu, has been posthumously honoured with the Crown of Change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Champion Award by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on SDGs.

The award, which was received by Omu Dunkwu’s Media Consultant, Comrade Patrick Ochei, at the grand finale of the 2026 Delta State SDGs Summer Camp on Saturday, August 15, 2026, was presented by the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission representing Delta State, Hon. Mrs. Blessyn Brume-Ataguba, on behalf of the Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, Lady Diana Ereyitomi Eyo-Enoitte.

The late Omu of Okpanam and Anioma was recognised for her exceptional leadership, distinguished service, and enduring contributions to women’s advancement, cultural preservation, and community transformation.

The SDGs Office further noted that Omu Dunkwu, through her voice, vision, and influence across Nigeria and beyond, championed the dignity of women, the pride of Anioma culture, and the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Omu Martha Dunkwu was a committed advocate of the Sustainable Development Goals from their adoption in 2015, while also supporting the policies and programmes of successive governments, provided such policies and programmes aligned with the yearnings and aspirations of the citizenry.

As part of efforts to immortalise her legacy, the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs recalled Omu Dunkwu’s indomitable contributions to humanity, particularly her advocacy for women and community development. The Office consequently decided to honour her with the only posthumous award among the honours presented to other living personalities at the event.

The recognition, according to the organisers, is a testament to the enduring impact of Omu Dunkwu’s life, leadership, advocacy, and service to humanity, as well as her unwavering commitment to the advancement of women, preservation of culture, and promotion of sustainable development.
