Issele-Azagba Agog as Sir Peter Kifordu Celebrates New Yam Festival

The agrarian community of Issele-Azagba in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State was agog as friends, associates and well-wishers trooped into the community to felicitate with an illustrious son, Sir Peter Isioma Kifordu, on the occasion of his New Yam Festival (Iwaji).

The celebration attracted friends and associates from various walks of life, many of whom braved the rain to honour Kifordu in recognition of the value they place on their friendship and relationship with him.

Among those present were the traditional ruler of Ubulu-Uno Kingdom and Second Vice Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Obi Henry Afamefune Kikachukwu, Ph.D.; five Idime Chiefs of Issele-Uku — Chief Fidelis Jigide, Chief Augustine Maha, Chief Sunday Monyei, Chief Engr. Onyeabor Nwabah and Chief Uche Mgbanwa — as well as other friends and associates who turned out to celebrate with Kifordu.

The chiefs from Issele-Uku attended the ceremony following Kifordu's increasingly close relationship with Issele-Uku Kingdom (Issele Unor), particularly his recent association with the palace.

Also in attendance were members of the real estate community from within Delta State and beyond, who came to celebrate with one of their own at the traditional ceremony.

Speaking with newsmen, Sir Peter Kifordu expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and the remarkable personal growth he experienced during the year.

He noted that God's favour upon his life had extended beyond him to his family and others associated with him.

Kifordu prayed for greater progress and more blessings in the coming year, expressing hope that he would continue to celebrate the New Yam Festival as an avenue for thanksgiving to God for God's abundant blessings.

The celebration provided an opportunity for family members, friends, associates and well-wishers to come together in thanksgiving and share in the joy of the occasion.

The high point of the festival was the cutting of a new roasted yam by Chief Chibuzor Asiwe, a chief of Issele-Azagba Kingdom, who presented the yam to Sir Kifordu to enable him partake in the traditional eating of the new yam.
