ASABA – Renowned philanthropist and international businessman, Engr. Anthony Nwajei, has paid glowing tribute to former Vice Chairman and immediate past Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Deacon Patrick Ochei, popularly known as the "Gentle Lion," describing him as a humble, loyal and peace-loving leader whose life has inspired many.
Nwajei, an Issele-Uku-born philanthropist based abroad, spoke on Thursday during Ochei's birthday celebration at the Fobb's Apartment in Asaba, where family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers gathered to honour the veteran journalist.
He said he had closely followed Ochei's public engagements and interactions over the years, noting that his calm disposition, respectful responses and unwavering loyalty had earned him widespread admiration.
According to Nwajei, the impressive turnout at the celebration reflected Ochei's humility, good character and the positive impact he has made on people across different walks of life.
He also described the celebrant as a worthy ambassador of Issele-Uku Kingdom, saying the community is known for producing peace-loving and responsible individuals committed to fostering unity and harmonious coexistence.
"I have watched him over the years and admired the way he relates with people. His responses are always calm, respectful and full of loyalty.
"When I saw many people celebrating him, I said to myself, 'Why not identify with my younger brother?'
"The massive turnout today speaks volumes about his humility and the good life he has lived," Nwajei said.
The philanthropist noted that although he left Nigeria many years ago, he had maintained a close relationship with Ochei, describing him as a dependable brother and a worthy ambassador of Issele-Uku Kingdom.
"We are a peaceful people and we don't make trouble. Patrick Ochei represents those values. You can be rest assured that he is surrounded by good people who genuinely love and support him," he added.
The highlight of the colourful celebration was the ceremonial cutting of the birthday cake by Comrade Deacon Patrick Ochei, flanked by his family, friends and well-wishers amid cheers and goodwill messages.
The event provided guests with an opportunity to celebrate the former NUJ Delta State Council Vice Chairman and immediate past Secretary for his years of dedicated service, exemplary leadership and enduring commitment to humanity.
Nwajei wished Ochei many more years of sound health, divine grace and greater accomplishments in service to humanity.
