The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Mr. Charles Odii, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, selflessness and renewed commitment to national development as the country celebrates Christmas and prepares for the New Year.
In a Christmas and New Year goodwill message, Odii said the festive season offers an opportunity for reflection on the core values of love, sacrifice, service and togetherness, which he described as essential for building a stronger and more self-reliant nation.
According to him, the spirit of Christmas should inspire Nigerians to look beyond personal gains and focus on collective responsibility toward national growth and prosperity.
He emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved when citizens work together in peace and harmony.
The SMEDAN boss urged Nigerians to support local industries, promote homegrown solutions and encourage indigenous innovation, noting that these actions align with the Federal Government’s Nigeria First policy. He said the policy, championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscores the importance of placing Nigeria at the center of all economic and developmental efforts.
Odii further stressed the need for unity across ethnic, religious and regional divides, stating that national cohesion remains a critical foundation for inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
He expressed optimism that the New Year would bring renewed hope to Nigerian households, adding that with faith, hard work and unity, the country would continue on the path of progress.
Odii concluded by wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, reaffirming SMEDAN’s commitment to supporting small and medium enterprises as drivers of economic growth and national prosperity.
