ABUJA, 22 October 2025:
The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ushafa Division, back to the State Headquarters following a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) showing the officer slapping a young man on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police strongly condemned the officer’s actions, describing them as unprofessional, uncivil, and inconsistent with the ethical standards of the Nigeria Police Force. He emphasized that such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under his administration.
Consequently, the officer has been redeployed while an internal investigation is ongoing to determine appropriate disciplinary measures.
CP Dantawaye reaffirmed his commitment to accountability, discipline, and professionalism within the FCT Command. He cautioned all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and their subordinates to remain professional, courteous, and law-abiding in the discharge of their duties, warning that any act of misconduct or abuse of power will attract severe sanctions.
The Commissioner also appealed to members of the public to remain law-abiding and respectful in their interactions with police officers, noting that mutual respect and cooperation are vital for effective community policing and public safety.
