Gubernatorial Election Situation Room: Police Hosts Security Agencies

AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE — October 22, 2025:In line with the directives of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) and in preparation for the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election scheduled for 8th November 2025, the Anambra State Police Command has hosted a Situation Room meeting with representatives of various security agencies at the Command Headquarters, Awka.

The meeting, convened under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, served as a platform for the strategic review and coordination of security arrangements ahead of the polls. It focused on fostering seamless inter-agency collaboration, effective deployment, and intelligence sharing to guarantee a peaceful and credible election.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a free, fair, and credible electoral process in Anambra State. He stressed that election security is a shared responsibility that requires professionalism, neutrality, and dedication from all security operatives.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Fire Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

All participating agencies reaffirmed their readiness to work collectively under the ICCES framework to safeguard voters and maintain public order before, during, and after the election.

The newly established Situation Room, located at the Command Headquarters, will serve as a central hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and response to any security developments throughout the election period.
