CP Dantawaye Miller Assumes Duty as 34th FCT Police Commissioner

Abuja — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by Commissioner of Police (CP) Dantawaye Miller, psc, as the 34th Commissioner of Police, FCT Command.

According to a press release by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja dated 17th, October, 2025, "CP Miller succeeds CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, who has been redeployed to another strategic assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM."

Born on October 15, 1971, in Afogo, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, CP Miller is the son of the late DCP Gajere Dantawaye. He began his early education at St. Williams Primary School, Ilorin, later transferring to Nuhu Primary School, Kankiya, before proceeding to Government College, Katsina, and Federal Government College, Enugu, where he obtained his Senior School Certificate in 1989.

He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Kaduna State Polytechnic, a Bachelor of Science in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s Degree in International Studies from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Course 20) in May 2000, CP Miller began his policing career at the Bayelsa State Police Command in January 2002.

Over the course of his distinguished career, he has served in several strategic and operational positions, including:

  • Divisional Crime Officer, ‘A’ Division, Yenagoa
  • Acting Aide-de-Camp to the then Governor of Bayelsa State
  • Escort Commander to the then Vice President
  • Chief Security Officer, Ministry of Petroleum
  • Commanding Officer, MOPOL 24, Presidential Villa
  • Escort Commander to the then President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

He also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), FCT Command; Area Commander, Karewa, Adamawa State; Assistant Commissioner (CID), Oyo State Command; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in both Yobe and Edo States.
Before his current appointment, CP Miller was the Commissioner of Police, Information Technology (IT), Force Headquarters, Abuja, and most recently the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command.

A career officer known for professionalism and dedication, CP Miller has attended several local and international courses, including:

  • Combat Operations and Counter-Terrorism Course, Gwoza, Maiduguri
  • Leadership Training, Shere Hills, Jos
  • VVIP Protection Course, Ginegal, Israel
  • Strategic Leadership and Command Course, Police Staff College, Jos

He is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and a member of Rotary International, where he is widely respected among Rotarians across Nigeria.

CP Miller, a devout Christian, is married and blessed with children. He enjoys reading, music, driving, and travelling.

Upon assuming office, the new FCT Police Commissioner pledged to build on existing security frameworks, enhance community-police relations, and ensure the safety of all residents within the territory.

The Command urged members of the public to continue supporting the police in its collective effort to maintain peace and security across the FCT.
