The Organisation for the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC), the umbrella body of the Anioma people, has presented cash prizes and awards to winners of various cultural competitions held during the 20th edition of the Anioma Cultural Festival.

At a brief Prize-Giving Ceremony held at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, OFAAC National President, Arc. Kester Ifeadi, presented cheques to outstanding performers in both the group and individual categories.

The overall winner, Onu Anioma Dance Group, received a cash prize of ₦700,000, while Uwom Masquerade of Okpanam and the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor Theatre Troupe emerged first and second runners-up, receiving ₦500,000 and ₦300,000 respectively.

Speaking at the event, Ifeadi reaffirmed OFAAC's commitment to the preservation and promotion of Anioma cultural heritage.

“OFAAC is an institution owned by the Anioma people. It serves as the umbrella body of the Anioma nation, and we have successfully translated the aspirations of our people for cultural preservation into reality. Our achievements have been remarkable because we remain non-political and non-religious. We are unique in our commitment to documenting and preserving our heritage, and our journey is irreversible,” he said.

Reflecting on the just-concluded festival, Ifeadi described the 20th edition as one of the most successful in the history of the event, particularly in terms of participation, quality of performances, and cultural displays.

“This year's festival has been widely acknowledged as the best yet in terms of group participation and performance quality. Going forward, our focus is not merely on winning but on showcasing the richness of our culture and making Anioma people proud. By next year, every participant will have something to celebrate,” he added.

The OFAAC President also expressed profound appreciation to the sponsors and partners whose support contributed to the success of the festival. He specifically acknowledged the Delta State Government, Grand Oak Distillers Limited (makers of Seaman’s Aromatic Schnapps), MTN, Wema Bank, and Contemporary Group Limited for their unwavering support over the years.

Recalling the organisation's history and growth, Ifeadi paid tribute to OFAAC's founding patrons, including the late Asagba Prof. Chike Edozien, late Sir Fortune Ebie, late Chief B.S.C. Elue, and late Omu Martha Dunkwu, whose contributions laid the foundation for the organisation's enduring legacy.

He also honoured the memories of founding directors such as late Mrs. Ella Nwabueze, late Mr. Gideon Nwaomu, and late Hon. Emeke Nmadu, acknowledging their sacrifices and dedication to the advancement of Anioma culture.

Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were OFAAC Vice President Mr. Paddy Ugboh; Secretary Barr. Monn Olodu; Ndokwa Axis Director Mr. Sunday Olise; National Coordinator Prince Andrew Obiokolie; as well as zonal chairmen and members of the organisation.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Anioma Cultural Festival Trophy to the overall champions, Onu Anioma Dance Group. The trophy was donated by the Chairman of the OFAAC Board of Trustees and renowned environmentalist, Chief (Dr.) Newton Jibunoh, popularly known as the “Desert Warrior.”
