Security Team Recovers Snatched SUV, Arrests Female Accomplice

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to 3-3 Police Station, in a joint operation with the Agunechemba Security outfit, Nkwelle-Ezunaka Unit, have recovered a stolen Toyota Highlander and arrested a 23-year-old female accomplice, following a kidnap and armed robbery incident in the State.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of 27th October 2025, led to the arrest of one Okonkwo Onyinye, who was found at the scene where the vehicle was abandoned in Ogidi.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was ambushed by five armed men operating in a Toyota Corolla at the Nkwelle GRA Gate. The gang forced the victim into the boot of his own vehicle and drove to a bush in Umuoji, where they seized his phone and transferred ₦24,000,000 from his bank account. The suspects later escaped with the vehicle, leaving the victim behind.

Following a swift report to authorities, the Joint Security Team deployed technology-driven intelligence that traced the movements of the suspects from Nawfia to Ogidi. Upon sighting security operatives, the criminals engaged the team in sporadic gunfire before fleeing.

The stolen Toyota Highlander, white in colour, with registration number RBC 649 CN, was recovered. The arrested suspect is currently assisting police detectives with credible leads toward apprehending the fleeing gang members.

Meanwhile, the Command has heightened security across the State ahead of the November 8, 2025 Anambra Governorship Election.

Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
