The Indigenous Correspondents' Chapel (ICC), of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has congratulated three of its esteemed members, Elder Ben Ogbogo, Elder Julius Oweh, and Elder Chukwudi Abaindu, on their appointment into the Delta NUJ Veterans and Elders Forum (VEF).
In a congratulatory message issued in Asaba, on Monday evening, the Chapel described the appointments as a well-deserved recognition of the trio's unwavering commitment, integrity, and decades-long contributions to journalism in Delta State and beyond.
The statement, signed by the Chairman of the Chapel, Kenneth Orusi and Secretary, Comrade Michael Odiah, praised Elder Ogbogo, (Community News), Elder Oweh, (The Pond) and Elder Abaindu (Banner Online News), for their enduring service to the Union, their professional excellence, and their mentorship of younger journalists.
"Their inclusion in the Veterans and Elders Forum is not only an honour to them individually, but also a source of pride to the Indigenous Correspondents' Chapel.
"We are confident that they will bring their wealth of experience to bear in strengthening the ideals and vision of the NUJ in Delta State," the statement read.
The Chapel also commended the leadership of the Delta State NUJ Council for recognizing the immense value of veteran journalists and institutionalizing a platform where their wisdom and institutional memory can guide future directions of the union.
The Indigenous Correspondents' Chapel reaffirmed its commitment to journalistic excellence and unity within the Union, and pledged its continued support for all efforts aimed at enhancing professionalism and welfare of media practitioners in the state.
The Veterans and Elders Forum is established to serve as an advisory and peace-building body, offering guidance and support to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council, with the goal of fostering continued growth, unity, and professional excellence within the Union.
