FCT Command has put out a full detailed account of the robbery incident at Efab Global Estate Idu, Abuja, hinting that Police not only responded swiftly but the earlier reported stories weren't a true representation of the incident, perhaps an overblown hearsay.
According to a press statement by the FCT Police Command Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh on 23rd May, 2025 "Police Command wishes to address and clarify a recent incident that has generated concern within the public domain, particularly regarding misleading reports suggesting that over 40 hoodlums invaded Efab Global Estate, Idu, injuring five security guards as Police delay response."
Contrary to these exaggerated claims, the Command confirms that a case of armed robbery was reported at about 04:05AM on 21st May, 2025, when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Life Camp Division received a distress call concerning a robbery incident which had taken place in Efab Global Estate Idu.
The report indicated that some armed robbers had gained unauthorized entry into the estate through the rear perimeter fence.
During the incident, the assailants tied up two security personnel and inflicted injuries on one, who was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) for medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
The robbers dispossessed residents of laptops, mobile phones, and other valuables.
Upon receipt of the distress call, Area Commander Life Camp, ACP Harrison Oruruo, swiftly led a tactical response team to the scene. Unfortunately, the suspects had fled the location before the distress call was made to the Police.
In response to this incident, security measures have been reinforced around the estate in collaboration with vigilante groups and community stakeholders.
An active investigation is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent a recurrence.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale psc. mnips., has urged residents and estate management committees to ensure proper vetting and profiling of private security personnel and domestic staff.
He also emphasizes the importance of working in synergy with Divisional Police Officers to enhance security architecture within residential communities.
