The people's Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has commended the good people of Anioma Nation for their unquantifiable support to him, recalling that his election was won based on the massive votes of Anioma people, making him win the entire nine local government areas of Delta North (Anioma).
He made this assertion on Thursday 17th April, 2025, while hosting the leadership and stakeholders of the Organization For the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC) - the umbrella body of Anioma Culture, who were on a courtesy visit to him ahead of the Anioma Cultural Festival, holding on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025.
Governor Oborevwori in an appreciative demeanor, pledged to continue to support Anioma people as a way of reciprocating their kind gestures towards his political trajectory; thereby promising to attend and support the festival.
In his words, "Let me specially recognize the President of OFAAC, our leader Chief Newton Jibunoh, the Traditional Rulers and all the stakeholders of Anioma Nation that are here. I commend Arc. Kester Ifeadi and the leadership of OFAAC for their untiring dedication towards the preservation of Anioma culture, heritage and identity. Your efforts are crucial to the promotion of our rich traditions and values. As a Government, we reaffirm our commitment to preserving our cultural heritage across the State, support initiatives, and promote festivals, languages and recognizing their importance in shaping our identity.
"Under the M.O.R.E Agenda, we have implemented key projects across the Anioma Nation and generally across the State. I thank the Anioma Nation for their show of love and support to this administration. And I want to commend OFAAC for promoting unity and harmony in Delta State, because that is what we want in this government. We will continue to support Anioma projects, because they have supported this government", Gov. Oborevwori insisted.
Earlier in his speech, the President of OFAAC and renowned Architect, Arc. Kester Ifeadi had congratulated the Governor on his unique governance style that has made all and sundry proud of the Government in power.
According to him, "You are our father in Anioma Nation by virtue of your place as Governor. We are proud of your developmental strides that are dotting the entire Delta landscape. We of the Anioma extraction have always been with you; we will continue to be with you as our project.
"OFAAC was formed over 23 years ago, to highlight the unique nature and identity of Anioma people. The Organization has been uniting our people over the years and has been a bridge between Anioma Nation and other tribes within Delta State and beyond. It's a 2000 membership group with a formidable structure comprising of Board of Trustees, Board of Traditional Rulers, Board of Directors, Coordinators and others.
"You have demystified the Office of Governor by your detribalized nature and leadership style. We are a non partisan group, however, we can't help but express our profound joy that we have a Governor that is being delighted by all. Even the opposition parties are craving to adopt you.
"However, we are here to inform you about our 2025 edition of Anioma Cultural Festival, coming up on Easter Monday, and to invite you to attend, Your Excellency. You have always supported us and we are confident you will do same this time, both in attendance and otherwise. We are working in consonance with your people oriented governance agenda; interestingly, ours is basically a vanguard of uniting our people, coordinating peace and security, and promoting our culture in unique ways. And that is why we have always had traditional rulers from Delta South and Central attending our festivals, and this time around, we have the monarch of Ellu Kingdom even on this visit with us. Thank you for your audience our capacity and amiable Governor", Ifeadi submitted.
Meanwhile, the composition of the well attended visit comprised of the leadership of OFAAC ably led by Arc. Kester Ifeadi, the Board of Trustees as led by the Desert Warrior, Chief (Dr) Newton Jibunoh, the Board of Traditional Rulers as equally led by the Obi of Ubulu-Uno Kingdom and 2nd Vice Chairman of Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Obi Henry Afamefune Kikachukwu and others too numerous to mention.
