The Delta State revered Royal Mother and Omu Anioma, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu who has consistently advocated the inclusivity of the Traditional Institutions, Women and Youths in actualising the goals of peace, security and economic prosperity in the Niger Delta region, was among eminent Nigerians invited by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Abubakar Momoh to evaluate years of work done on early warning signals, peacebuilding mechanisms for the Niger Delta.
In that meeting presided over by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore on behalf of the Minister, the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), a foremost peacebuilding strategist made a presentation of the Development of a Security Framework for the Niger Delta region.
The meeting which held in Abuja on Thursday 25th January, 2024, was to enable stakeholders as Technical Working Group (TWG) brief the Honourable Minister on years of dialogue that had taken place through the engagement of various segments of the Niger Delta people on the way forward of peace and security for a virile region, anchored on prosperity.
According to the Minister, another meeting is to be held by February to allow submissions of memoranda from the supporting groups ahead of the official launch of the Security Framework for the Niger Delta region in March.
