According to a press release by the Delta State command Police Public Relations Officer DSP Bright Edafe on 5th December, 2023, "Following the shooting of one Lucky (surname unknown) by a Police Inspector on 5/12/2023 at about 1634hours at Ekrerhavwe Junction, Agbarho, while on stop and search duty, The Commissioner of Police, on receipt of the sad news, immediately ordered the arrest and detention of the errant police officer."
"He also directed that the officer be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asaba for a thorough and speedy investigation."
