Youth Groups Gather in Asaba to Discuss Delta’s Political Future, Liberation

By Patrick Ochei

A group of youths under the aegis of the Concerned Youths for the Political Liberation of Delta State has converged on Bonn Hotel, Asaba, to deliberate on the political future and liberation of Delta State.

The gathering, christened “Equity Crusaders,” focused primarily on the need for leadership founded on equity, fairness, justice, inclusiveness and good governance.

The event was moderated by a renowned journalist and Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, who called for greater accountability from political leaders, particularly those who claim to be performing well amid widespread economic hardship and poverty.

Sorokwu stressed the need for leaders to be responsive to the plight of the people and accountable for their stewardship, insisting that governance must be measured by its impact on citizens.

Meanwhile, speakers at the gathering urged youths and other eligible voters in Delta State to arm themselves with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the electoral process.

They also advocated the mobilisation of more than two million votes across the state, which they said would be used to pursue their political aspirations in the forthcoming election and challenge what they described as self-serving leadership.

The participants emphasised the importance of youth participation, political awareness and collective action in shaping the future of Delta State.
