The revered Monarch of Issele-Uku, HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka, JP, MNSE, has emphasized the importance of regular health checks among residents, noting that the free medical outreach initiated at the palace was aimed at creating awareness about diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and stroke.
Obi Nduka acknowledged that evil exists in society and that people sometimes experience unexplained health challenges. However, he cautioned against attributing every illness to spiritual attacks, stressing the need for proper medical examination and diagnosis.
The medical outreach, which was held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Issele-Uku Royal Palace, featured a US-based medical expert, Dr. Augustine Nwabueze, as Chairman.
Dr. Nwabueze, who was represented by Dr. Ezieke, advised participants during the health talk to make regular health checks a priority. He specifically encouraged them to monitor their blood pressure and blood sugar levels and undergo other necessary laboratory tests to enable early detection and management of health conditions.
The programme, supervised by the Welfare Officer of the Issele-Uku Development Union (IDU), Ms. Ebele Isebor, witnessed the screening of a large number of residents, many of whom were able to ascertain their health status, particularly with regard to diabetes and hypertension.
It would be recalled that the issue of “Acha-Ele” (leg wound) had, at some point, become a major concern in Issele-Uku and was often attributed to spiritual attacks.
Against this backdrop, His Royal Majesty initiated the health programme to create greater awareness among residents about the importance of basic medical checks and proper diagnosis, rather than relying on assumptions that health challenges are necessarily caused by spiritual forces.
