Speaking during this solemn yet uplifting season at Abuja, Charles Odii, DG/CEO of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, reflected deeply on the state of the nation and the urgent need for a rebirth of patriotism among Nigerians.
He noted that while corruption continues to pose a significant challenge, a more subtle yet equally damaging issue persists; the erosion of patriotism.
According to him, a nation cannot truly rise when its citizens lose faith in its promise, disengage from its progress, or place self-interest far above national good.
Drawing parallels with the essence of Easter, Odii emphasized that just as the season symbolizes sacrifice and renewal, Nigeria too must undergo a moral and civic renewal, one driven by citizens who are willing to believe again, to contribute, and to act in the interest of the collective.
He called on Nigerians across all walks of life
especially the vibrant MSME community to rise beyond cynicism and play active roles in nation-building.
Patriotism, he stressed, is not merely a sentiment but a daily commitment expressed through integrity, enterprise, and responsibility.
Reaffirming confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Odii urged citizens to support ongoing efforts aimed at economic revitalization and national development.
He acknowledged that while the journey may be challenging, the destination remains promising for a united and determined people.
In his words, Nigeria’s greatest transformation will not come from policies alone, but from a people awakened to their duty, inspired by hope, and committed to the common good.
