EKO Signs 2026 Oshimili South Budget Into Law, Pledges Reconstruction of Council Back-End Road

By Patrick Ochei

The Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. Ezenyili Kelvin Obi, Ph.D., has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, commending members of the Legislative Arm for their diligence and commitment in the budget preparation process.

Speaking at the budget signing ceremony, the Chairman praised the legislature, led by Hon. Michael Okonji, for what he described as their capacity-driven and thorough handling of the appropriation process.

A major highlight of the event was the Chairman’s firm commitment to commence the long-anticipated reconstruction of the Council’s Back-End Road. According to him, the road project is long overdue and has attracted significant public concern over time.

He explained that beyond serving as a vital access route to the Oshimili South Council Secretariat from the DLA axis, the reconstruction of the road would stimulate economic activities in the area. It would also provide safer and more convenient access to the Council Secretariat, reducing the need for residents and visitors to use the expressway.

Hon. Obi, popularly known as EKO, assured residents that the 2026 budget would prioritize the delivery of tangible democratic dividends across all sectors and communities within Oshimili South.

He also commended the Executive Governor of Delta State for providing an enabling environment for governance through the MORE Agenda, which he said has strengthened development efforts at the local government level.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to progress, EKO pledged to sustain the momentum of development initiatives and to continue delivering people-oriented projects that will justify the confidence reposed in his leadership.
