The Anambra State Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt after a disturbing video showing a suspected cult initiation involving a minor went viral across social media.
The footage, believed to have been recorded in a community within the state, shows a group of young boys allegedly performing unlawful initiation rites.
Police describe the act as criminal, immoral, and deeply offensive to public decency and child protection laws.
In swift response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu (fwc, minps, PhD), has ordered an urgent investigation. He directed the Anti-Cultism Squad, Juvenile Welfare Unit, and State Intelligence Department to:
🔹 Verify the video’s authenticity and location
🔹 Identify and rescue the victim
🔹 Track down and arrest everyone involved
Condemning the act in strong terms, the CP warned that child abuse, indoctrination, or forced initiation will not be tolerated under any guise.
> “This Command will not spare anyone who preys on children or promotes cultism. We’re coming for them — all of them,” the CP vowed.
The Police are urging anyone with credible information to assist the investigation by calling 112, 07039194332, or contacting the Police PRO on 08039334002.
All reports will be treated in strict confidence, the statement assured.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, reaffirmed that the police remain fully committed to protecting minors, dismantling cult networks, and keeping Anambra safe.
