The Nigerian Factor: Pyhno Speaks on Retirement Homes, Takes Stand

Nigerian award-winning rapper, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, popularly called Phyno, has taken a stand on the trend of relocating elderly parents to retirement homes or residential care facilities abroad.

Instablog9ja reports; Speaking in a recent podcast, the rapper said: “We don’t put our dads in retirement homes in Africa. I know where I come from, and I know how we treat our fathers. I wouldn’t put my dad in a retirement home, even if he was here (abroad). I would rather find a way around it.

Here in the Western world, when you put your dads in retirement homes, you pay for it, right? In Africa, we would rather pay people to look after him at home than put him in a facility with others. That’s not how it works, and it never will.”
