The event, held this morning at the palace of HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka, JP, MNSE, featured the traditional observance of “Ikpukpo Isi Ewu,” signifying the end of one traditional season and the beginning of another.
The Royal Father hosted the Ogbeleani, the Okpalabisis, chiefs and other titled elders who gathered to commemorate the occasion and reflect on the traditions and values of the Issele-Uku people.
As part of the gathering, Obi Nduka engaged the elders in a series of pertinent traditional questions, sparking lively debates and exchanges of views among representatives from Ogbeleani Diokpa Okonkwo Isimchei, Iyase Chief Innocent Etenmua Ashiedu, Okwalegwe Chief (Prof) John Ochei, the Akogwu Chief Francis Ijei and other chiefs and elders representing different interests in the community.
The discussions provided an engaging opportunity for the elders to share perspectives on customs, traditions and matters relating to the community., especially with matrimony, child's biology, etc.
The gathering ended on a convivial note, with participants describing the interaction at the palace as an interesting and memorable moment in the observance of the new traditional year.
