It was a joyous yet emotional occasion as 18 children and their caregivers at the Rose Ilogbo Orphanage Home in Ughelli, Delta Central, warmly received the team from Fostering Hopes Foundation, a non-governmental organisation committed to impacting lives, as the Foundation marked its second anniversary.
The team, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, travelled from Asaba to the Rose Ilogbo Orphanage Home in Ughelli, where the Foundation presented the Home with a variety of items, including school bags, books, rice, Indomie noodles, drinks, biscuits, detergents and tissue papers, among other essentials, to support the children and caregivers.
Ochei urged the management and children to pray for the Canadian-based Executive Director of the Foundation, Nkechi Ukome, who, he said, had continued to work towards ensuring that vulnerable families within Delta State thrive, while children under the Foundation's scholarship scheme enjoy the benefits and protections guaranteed to every child under Nigerian child rights laws.
She said she had been praying for assistance, particularly for school bags and other educational materials, as the children prepare to resume school, adding that she never imagined the assistance would arrive from so far away less than a week before resumption.
Ilogbo commended the leadership of the Foundation and prayed that God would continue to open doors of increase for the organisation so that it could do more in the service of humanity.
Other members of the team included Pastor Mrs. Ethel Uto, Programme Director, Education Opportunities and Early Childhood Development; Deaconess Mrs. Zeniat Umoru, Programme Director, Family Stability and Support; Mrs. Happiness Godwin, Programme Director, Economic Empowerment; and Miss Onyinyechi Emeka, Social Media Manager.
Also on the team were volunteers, including Comrades Michael Ilaya and Dominic Adewole, who assisted with reporting and transportation during the visit.
