According to a statement released by his family, Ukpai — described as “a faithful soldier of the cross” — was called to rest after more than six decades of tireless service in ministry.
Rev. Ukpai was widely recognized for his fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word, and public demonstrations of faith that inspired millions within and beyond Nigeria. As a founding figure of modern evangelism in the country, he played a pivotal role in shaping contemporary Christian ministry and nurturing generations of preachers.
The family’s statement praised him as “a devoted father and mentor to many, whose life was a testament to God’s power and love.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Quoting the late preacher’s favorite scripture, the statement concluded: “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21
