Delta Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the chairman of Oshimili south local government area, Obi Ezenyili, for using scarce resources at his disposal to develop infrastructure in the council.

Governor Okowa made the commendation today while commissioning an ultramodern Legislative Complex at Oshimili South local government secretariat, built by the council's boss and named after Late Mrs. Ndidi Maryam Babangida.

Noting that other councils were not comfortable with the available resources, the governor said, "I must truly state that this is the first time I'm seeing such an edifice dedicated to the legislative chambers at the local government.

I must thank the council chairman for taking such a bold step, mostly when many councils are not okay with their finances. It's about superior thinking and management of scarce resources."

Adding that: "I thank you for thinking in the right direction of creating resources for this edifice. I'm excited a good number of persons have come out here today for this commissioning. I'm glad that our people have responded in support of the council. I hope you continue to ensure that the best of you is given to the Oshimili south people during your stay in office."

"I'm glad you have environmental marshals; 240 of them as you mentioned, to ensure that you maintain cleanliness which helps to build the environment and I believe that the relationship you have with the capital territory will help the capital territory which happens to be the fastest growing capital territory in the country. Obviously the capital territory is expanding by the day and our brothers from the South East are finding here very comfortable and also others from the rest of the nation."

In his speech, Obi Ezenyili recalled that, prior to the construction of the chamber, no councillor had an office. "Some did their jobs under the tree; this birthed the need to build a befitting complex for our councilors taking cognizance of a fact that Oshimili south is the mother of all local governments in the state. This complex will enhance the jobs of our councilors."

Ezenyili disclosed that, "We are collaborating with security personnels to ensure continuous and robust security in the local government area. We have digitalised our activities and you can now apply for your local government identification and get it mailed to you and we have engaged in continuous welfare for staffs and electorates, empowerment of widows and youths with cash gift, and even gone ahead to offset over 60% of outstanding debts owed by past administration to contractors."

The commissioning was graced by dignitaries within and outside Oshimili South Local Government Area including the family of Late Ndidi Maryam Babangida; the Okogwu's family.
